In my works I consistently probe and explore concrete artistic idioms. I am engaged in a constant process of exploring the picture plane through a highly disciplined structuring of geometrical form elements and lines and through a restricted color spectrum.
Through simple graphic effects—continuous white contour lines on a black background —I try to unfold disciplined geometrical forms with strong references to architectonic space.
As a source of inspiration for a number of my compositions, I look at traditional Japanese wrappings—the way a simple, often square, sheet of paper, through a complex and precise folding technique, is transformed into a box or a cube. With few lines or a single line, it is possible to transform a two dimensional plane into a three dimensional space.
My weavings are artistic expressions, but when it comes to technique and choice of materials, I work as an artisan.
